Our Classes

Qualified Medication
Administration Person

The medication administration course is designed to teach unlicensed staff to safely administer medications in specific settings authorized by law. Persons who successfully complete the medication administration course are not certified or licensed in any way and are not trained or authorized to make any type of judgment, assessment, or evaluation of a client. Staff who successfully complete the course are considered Qualified Medication Administration Persons (QMAP). Successful applicants must pass a written exam and a hands-on practical exam.

The QMAP course is authorized for individuals working in these approved settings:

1. Assisted living residences
2. Adult foster care facilities
3. Alternative care facilities
4. Residential childcare facilities
5. Secure residential treatment centers
6. State certified adult day programs
7. Program-approved service agencies (PASA) servicing people with intellectual and developmental disabilities

NOTE: This specific curriculum is focused on PASA and adult day program settings. Other settings have different general guidelines, and you will be required to be trained by the facility before being allowed to pass medications.
